Competing with virtual tour
agencies

Travel agencies are not only competing among themselves, they are competing with direct services providers - hotels, air carriers - and virtual media.


The business travel budgets are cut, and the companies save money wherever possible, use Skype and internet, Latvia Tours director says. She adds that the business should consider whether it is worth wasting the secretary or assistant's time to book the trip or rather choose the professionals to do it. Express Travel agency points out that many clients have returned to travel agencies' services, after having "burned" in the virtual media. On the other hand, agencies use the online environment and offer various IT solutions - e.g., Kaleva Travel offers Kaleva e-travel booking system for their clients; Latvia Tours also offers IT solutions able to adjust to clients' needs. Linstow Center Management company says their employees have acquired large experience in booking the flights and various services related to travel, and it is cheaper and more flexible solution. However, Linstow has corporate agreement with airBaltic which eases the booking as well.
