Safe Harbor certification ensures that bookings online are being processed with the required protections for personal data and in compliance with local law. The statistic data by Travelport shows that despite the crisis in Europe and significant overall decline in tourism industry, online travel booking has maintained a growing trend. Europe’s online travel booking volume has grown by 6 %.The Safe Harbor is a program resulting from negotiations among the United States government, the Europe Commission, and the Swiss government.
