The record-deep recession attracts the attention of tourists. British residents seeking cheap holidays grew interested in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia last year.

The most attention to the three countries was noticed on the cheapflights.co.uk website. Short holidays in the Baltic states cost less compared with those spent in Spanish cities and resorts. The popularity of Lithuania on the cheapflights.co.uk website boosted by 75% in H2 2009 compared with H2 2008. The popularity of Latvia and Estonia went up by more than 60%. Among places of interest in Lithuania, British residents were the most interested in the Curonian Spit.
