This would end the border-crossing queues lasting for days that are the result of slow work of the Russian customs. The demand of the Legal Chancellor Indrek Teder to abolish preferential queues shocked the tourism companies of Ida-Virumaa most, as they were afraid of a major reduction of interest of tourists. Narva Joesuu spa sales department head Jean Rosenthal said that actually the number of tourists hasn’t decreased. Rosenthal said that the share of Russian clients has increased in Ida-Virumaa, instead. Mayor Tammiste said that there still are problems concerning decrease of the number of tourists. “While we committed a law violation according to the estimation of the Legal Chancellor, then for tourists it was simple, those who needed to, went to that preferential queue and often these were Russian tourists,” said Tammiste. “They knew that they could cross the border on a certain day but now they cannot be that certain of it.”
