This year the Latvian residents are more serious about taking out insurance against the cancelling of the trip - these are consequences of Iceland volcano eruption, which causes massive losses to many involved in tourism, including insurers.

This has brought changes both in supply and in demand. The first three months of the year were quite complicated for travel companies - very few travelled abroad, and phones were silent for weeks - however, the positive tendencies were brought by summer, and the insurance companies see the market as awakened. The first wave came in the wake of the large tourism fair in Riga, followed by various large operators’ campaigns. The prices of travel insurance policies have not changed, as the risk level has remained the same. Experts warn - if someone offers a damping price, the traveller must check various details of the policy and services it can offer.
