The approval means, that Delta Air Lines will be the second biggest airline. It is expected, that United Airlines after the buy will represent a global market share of seven percent, while Delta stands for six percent.
In May United Airlines informed the public that they had reached an agreement with Continental of a buyout of all stocks for USD 3.2 billion. The merger was accepted by EU in July. The two American airlines have routes to 35 destinations in Europe.
