Help to 50 neglected airports

The infrastructure in Siberia needs improvements which has made the minister of transportation to take over responsibility for 50 neglected airports.


Operations and maintenance of the airports, which mostly have runways of gravel, will be taken over by the Russian state to improve the transport facilities in the far regions of the vast country.

 

Minister Igor Levitin says, that the Russian state takes over 25 airports in Jakutia, all airports in Kamtiatka and in Tiukotka, where the runways will be asphalted. All the airports are in inaccessible regions with no railways and very poor roads.
